Chemical Safety Awareness


Our chemical awareness training has been developed by experienced chemical safety professionals. It offers a comprehensive understanding of the hazards and risks associated with chemical substances

The Chemical Agents Regulations specify that training and information on appropriate precautions and actions   for the risks associated with exposure to chemicals in the workplace must be provided to safeguard employees at the workplace.

Who Should Attend

All Employees dealing with hazardous chemicals in the workplace

On completion of this course participants

• Be aware of the legislation surrounding the safe use of chemicals

• Will have the ability to identify hazardous chemicals by recognising the symbols & labels associated with chemicals

• Be able to assess hazards presented using chemicals in the workplace by reading appropriate SDSs

• Identify the required control measures including the appropriate use of PPE following hierarchy of control

• Legislation

• Contamination routes

• Classification of hazardous chemicals

• Chemical labelling

• Safety Data Sheet Information

• Personal Safety (PPE)

• Safe Storage of Chemicals

• What to do in a Chemical Spill situation

• Chemical Waste disposal.

Class Room Based – On site delivery

A Practical and interactive approach to Learning is undertaken by our experienced and qualified instructors. Our instructors have practical experience in Chemical Safety Management and tutoring all levels of learners.

Participants will gain an understanding of hazardous chemicals and how to manage and use chemicals safely in the workplace.

Course Duration:

2 – 4 Hours dependant on client requirements

No of Participants

The instructor student ratio is 1:12

Assessment/ Evaluation

An assessment takes place with the individual employee
Report is sent to relevant organisation manager.

• An assessment takes place at the end of the session

• To be successful, participants must achieve a mark of 80% or greater in each element of the assessment


Successful completion of the course will be recorded for compliance

Retraining in Chemical Safety Awareness is suggested at intervals of no more than every 2 years or in the event of new processes involving the use of previously unused chemicals.
