Whether it\u2019s working with heavy machinery or certain chemicals, it\u2019s your job to be aware of tasks which could put your&nbsp;employees at risk.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ecoonline.com\/en-us\/blog\/how-to-properly-identify-and-analyze-hazards-in-your-workplace\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ecoonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/67d41473-9b3f-448c-85dc-de078cbb3aaf-8.webp\" alt=\"67d41473-9b3f-448c-85dc-de078cbb3aaf.png\"\/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We\u2019ve come up with a list of work which is considered hazardous so you can take the necessary precautions needed to reduce the possibility of harm:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Working at heights:<\/strong>\u00a0working at heights is one of the most hazardous types of work as employees could be working on unstable structures. This could result in\u00a0falling, which can be avoided with strong scaffolding and guard rails, as well as fall protection gear.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Working with heavy machinery:<\/strong>\u00a0Working with heavy machinery poses several risks such as being caught in or between moving parts, amputations, electrocutions,\u00a0shocks, and burns. Make sure workers are properly trained on how to use this equipment, lockout tagout procedures, as well as how to avoid injury. It\u2019s your job to also install machine guards and\u00a0provide personal protective equipment.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Working underground:<\/strong>\u00a0Having the earth caving in while workers are underground is a legitimate hazard and fear. For this reason, you must take all the\u00a0precautions needed to ensure this doesn\u2019t happen.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Confined spaces:<\/strong>\u00a0At times, workers can work in confined or tight spaces where they may be at risk of loss of consciousness, explosions, and more. Do all you\u00a0can to remove potential hazards present and have an emergency plan in place.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Hot work:<\/strong>\u00a0Workers usually need a permit to conduct hot work, because it\u2019s considered a high-risk job. This includes anything that has to do with ignition\u00a0sources that may be near material that can easily catch on fire.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Electrical work:<\/strong>\u00a0A permit is also needed when conducting electrical work because there is the risk of shock, electrocution, or\u00a0worse.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>The use of ladders:<\/strong>\u00a0Improper use of ladders is one of the most common causes of injury, as many workers don\u2019t secure them effectively before ascending. Make\u00a0sure all workers are given the necessary training on how to use a ladder to avoid any hazards.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Working with dangerous chemicals:<\/strong>\u00a0Several dangerous chemicals like\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ecoonline.com\/en-us\/blog\/pfas-chemicals-and-what-they-could-mean-for-your-organization\">forever chemicals<\/a>, asbestos, and more can cause major health risks to your employees. Be\u00a0vigilant of all chemicals on site and provide the necessary\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ecoonline.com\/en-us\/safety-data-sheets-sds-guide\">safety data sheets<\/a>\u00a0and training needed for workers to\u00a0conduct their jobs safely.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Work that involves bodily strain and stress:<\/strong>\u00a0Not all hazards are visible to the naked eye. That\u2019s why you also must be on the lookout for ergonomic hazards\u00a0which may cause unnecessary strain on the body, as well as stress which could lead to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ecoonline.com\/en-us\/blog\/mental-health-and-wellbeing-in-the-workplace\">poor mental\u00a0health<\/a>.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Transportation:<\/strong>\u00a0There are so many additional risks and hazards to think about when workers are operating vehicles. Always make sure workers have the right\u00a0certification and training to operate trucks and cars.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Working alone:<\/strong>\u00a0At times workers can work in remote locations on their own.
