In recent years, there have been a number of statistics that&nbsp;suggest workplace fatalities are steadily increasing in the US.&nbsp;Across the US, the number of fatal workplace injuries increased by 7 per cent between 2015 and 2016, according to&nbsp;the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to this, The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bls.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Bureau of Labor Statistics<\/a>\u00a0(BLS) recently published a list based on data from 2018. Stats showed that the number of worker\u00a0fatalities increased by 2% from 2017, with 5,147 in 2017 and 5,250 in 2018. The BLS also evaluated professions based on the fatal work injury rate and saw that certain industries had a much higher\u00a0fatality rate than others. Professions that made the top 10 were:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Logging workers<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Fishers and related fishing workers<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Aircraft pilots and flight engineers<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Roofers<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Refuse and recyclable material collectors<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Driver\/sales workers and truck drivers<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Farmers, ranchers, and other agricultural managers<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Structural iron and steelworkers<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>First-line supervisors of construction trades and extraction workers<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>First-line supervisors of landscaping, lawn service, and groundskeeping workers<br><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ecoonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/StaySafe20-20Blog20-20Workplace20fatalities20across20the20US20-20Inforgraphic-2-scaled.webp\" alt=\"StaySafe%20-%20Blog%20-%20Workplace%20fatalities%20across%20the%20US%20-%20Inforgraphic.jpg?width=2500&amp;height=6251&amp;name=StaySafe%20-%20Blog%20-%20Workplace%20fatalities%20across%20the%20US%20-%20Inforgraphic.jpg\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But why do the number of fatalities continue to increase?&nbsp;Many believe that workplace accidents often occur due to a lack of health and safety policies and proper risk&nbsp;assessments within the workplace.
