Servi Group has been Norway’s leading hydraulics expert since 1912, delivering power and motion systems across maritime, defence, and energy sectors. With over 350 employees across eight different sites, the company recognised its safety and chemical risk management systems needed modernising.

The challenge wasn’t just compliance. Servi needed a unified chemical and EHS solution across all its operations. They were looking for tools that would keep their people safe and work seamlessly across all of their locations. In 2021, Servi started using EcoOnline’s Chemical Management software, and integrated EcoOnline’s Health & Safety solution in February 2025.

The Story

When Sylvia, VP QHSSE, and Olav Kristian, HSSE Manager, set out to modernise Servi Group’s approach to health and safety, they knew they needed more than just a run-of-the-mill software upgrade. They needed a cultural shift. They wanted to empower every employee to start actively participating in workplace safety.

After reviewing several options, Servi chose EcoOnline for its ease of use, QR code-based quick reporting, real-time dashboards, and strong chemical safety tools. ”We looked into other solutions as well,” says Olav, “but we chose HSE from EcoOnline because it seemed to be the easiest way to report, especially with the quick report system using QR codes and the follow-up tools for managers.” Together with EcoOnline, they mapped out their needs, aligned on features, and rolled out the platform with a strong focus on standardisation.

The mission

Servi’s mission was clear: to engage users with purpose, simplify complex processes, improve overall experiences, and drive meaningful increases in activity related to health, safety, security, environment, and operations (HSSEO).

The solution

Servi has used EcoOnline’s comprehensive Chemical Management and EHS platforms to consolidate all of their health and safety processes into one frictionless system. It’s now simpler than ever for frontline workers to report hazards, for supervisors to manage corrective actions and inspections, and for teams to access vital chemical safety information. Servi is able to manage workplace safety proactively and they benefit from a major reduction in risks across the board.

The impact

Servi doubled the number of incidents and hazards reported (from just 31 in all of 2024 to an incredible 69 in just the first four months of 2025!) by simplifying reporting for frontline workers. Managers have greater visibility of safety performance and can easily follow up on corrective actions. Servi is working toward a target to risk assess 90% of their chemicals in use, and EcoOnline helps with better compliance, safer alternatives, and clearer insight into chemical usage and location.

A transformative shift across all operations

The results were immediate. “We are seeing a strong increase in incident reporting. A big rise in both incidents and observations, which tells us that EcoOnline was the right solution.” Servi started a campaign to encourage adoption, creating posters with QR codes for the specific location. This made it easy for employees and visitors to report and to find SDS.

In just four months, reported incidents jumped from 31 in all of 2024 to 69 in the first four months of 2025. That’s more than double the reporting in a fraction of the time. Servi were also able to focus on “positive observations”, with employees reporting on initiatives from colleagues that made a positive difference in the day-to-day work environment (while also having space for improvement proposals), adding to the excellent HSSEO reporting results.

Managers can now access dashboards tailored to their location, giving them real-time oversight of safety performance. “It’s making things easier for the managers,” adds Sylvia. “They can log in and access their own dashboard for their location, with full oversight of the metrics. We have incidents and observations sorted by site, and we also have a company-wide view that shows the overall picture.”

From a fragmented process to a unified system, Servi has taken a major step forward. Safety is now embedded into their everyday operations and they’ve built a strong culture of accountability, awareness, and continuous improvement.
