How our field service management app can support your field employees.

Lone working has become commonplace for those working in field service roles. Many employees regularly travel between, and work on, sites alone or carry out work in empty properties and client homes. While working alone is usually safe, lone working brings with it additional risk, as any danger faced is faced alone.

Our Lone Worker App ensures that lone workers have a way to signal for help in any situation. A lone worker panic button can be used at any time, while missed check-in and session expiry alerts will send an alarm even if the worker cannot. Non-movement will be detected if an employee has been incapacitated, and a wearable button can be worn to detect falls.

How we help protect lone workers in field service roles

We have specifically-designed functionality to overcome common challenges lone workers face in field service roles. A panic button can be pressed at any time to signal for help, while missed check-ins and man-down alerts will notify someone even when a lone worker is unable to reach their phone.

The Lone Worker App gives employers visibility of the location and safety status of lone workers in an emergency and allows them to check in safely once they have finished a lone working or travel session. A note-taking facility allows lone workers to add extra details to a session such as with whom they are meeting or where in a building they are based.

If an employee activates the app’s panic button or fails to check in, alerts are instantly visible in the online monitoring hub. Chosen managers are automatically notified via text, call and email. With EcoOnline’s Lone Worker software, you can protect your employees wherever they are and whenever they need help.

Risks for lone workers in field service roles

Working across a range of environments and with hazardous equipment and materials, field service workers are exposed to some of the leading causes of workplace accidents and fatalities, such as:

  • Slips, trips and falls
  • Injuries from lifting/handling
  • Being struck by an object
  • Being injured by machinery
  • Falls from height

As well as these most common risks, field service workers are also exposed to other hazards which, if safety measures are not in place, can have detrimental consequences. For example:

“We needed a more comprehensive and robust way of ensuring our employees were safe, and EcoOnline ticked all the boxes. It’s not about invading privacy or tracking productivity, but making sure we all get home safely. The entire team, myself included, use EcoOnline and know if there is a missed check-in or alert. We will get a phone call.”
