Sustainability Reporting

What is sustainability reporting?

Sustainability reporting encompasses an organisation’s sustainability performance when it comes to environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors. This allows companies to get a comprehensive view of the impact their business has on its people and the environment. This information is usually disclosed in the form of integrated reports and corporate social responsibility (CSR) reports, which highlight the organisation’s sustainability strategy, services, products, stakeholders, supply chain, governance, and much more.

Why is sustainability reporting important?

This type of reporting is beneficial, not only because it gives you greater insight into your company’s impact on the environment, but also because it’s a key factor for investors. What do we mean by this? Sustainability reporting helps to demonstrate your organisation’s commitment to being a more sustainable business to such third parties. Through these reports, investors and key stakeholders can compare your organisation to others in the same industry to make more informed decisions on who they will partner with.

What are the different sustainability reporting frameworks?

Depending on your location, business size, and more, there are a variety of different reporting frameworks and requirements you can comply with. Frameworks range from the Task Force on Climate-Related Financial Disclosure (TCFD) and the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) and Climate Disclosure Standards Board (CDSB).
